Good Health with Emily > Welcome to the Sex Questions blog!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Sex Questions blog! My name is Emily. I am currently studying to get my Masters Degree in Health Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. I am mainly interested in Sexual Health in a physical, emotional, social, and cultural sense. Throughout my life I have been looking for a forum where I could ask questions about sex without being judged and while getting REAL information that I could use. When I was 13 one of my best friends told me that she had sex with a 26 year old. I didn’t even know what sex was! I really could have used a resource like this one because when I got to Sex Ed. in 8th grade and I found out what my friend was really doing, I was in shock! She had been doing WHAT?! She let someone put what where?! I guess I was pretty sheltered as a kid, but it would have been nice to have someone (online or otherwise) to go to with my questions.

Unlike the “insert here” approach to Sex Education that I got in 8th grade, this forum is a place where you will get the answers to your questions and information relating to Human Intimacy. Not just the parts and what they do, even though you will get that if you need it. I am hopeful that this forum will present a number of perspectives, ideas, and experiences that will help all of us to come to a better understanding of our own sexuality and our relationships with other humans.

This is a place where you ask the questions, and you will get a number of answers. I will post the questions that I get from all of you as a blog and then it is up to you (and me) to provide the answers to those questions. If you have a question, just email me. Your question and an answer from me will be posted within 48 hours. These questions will be anonymous so don’t worry about your boss finding out that you want tips about how to achieve an orgasm.

After your question is posted, other people will be able to post threads with more information, more questions, or personal stories. If you don’t know what something is or means, just ask! If you want to know what OB/GYN stands for, just send me an email or post it in a thread. Sometimes people use terms so often that they forget that other people might not be familiar with them. Your questions are the biggest part in making this the most informative sexual health community there is. One last request: Please keep the responses respectful, helpful, and in no way harmful. ☺

Your loving Sex-pert,

Emily
